Health Commission to receive budget proposal

The City’s Health Commission meets Tuesday to discuss the Department of Public Health’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year. Public Health Director Mitchell Katz will present the budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, detailing the funding recommendations for San Francisco General Hospital, Laguna Honda Hospital and a number of community health service programs.

The Health Commission meets Tuesday at 3 p.m., at 101 Grove St., Room 300.


Supervisors give kudos to library branch renovation

Supervisors Ross Mirkarimi and Sean Elsbernd introduced a resolution praising the San Francisco Public Library for reopening the Sunset Branch Library, which will have its grand opening March 31 at 1 p.m. The building was renovated as part of the Branch Library Improvement Program and will reopen with a revamped children’s area, improved lighting, free wireless Internet access and a new roof.


Former DBI manager’s fraud trial starts

Opening statements are scheduled today in the trial of former Department of Building Inspection Manager Augustine Fallay, 47, who is charged with 11 felony counts of asking for and accepting bribes in a 12-year period with the department. He also faces four felony counts of perjury and eight felony counts of making false statements to an insurance company.
