City College teacher indicted for child porn

A 77-year-old San Francisco teacher has been indicted by a federal grand jury for possessing child pornography, a U.S. attorney announced today.

Daniel Hickey allegedly had pornographic images on his computer in July, said U.S. Attorney Scott Schools. Hickey teaches a computer class at City College of San Francisco. He graduated from San Francisco State University and the University of San Francisco.

On Tuesday, the jury indicted Hickey and sought to gain access to the Dell computer that allegedly contains the pornographic images. Hickey made his initial appearance Wednesday before Chief U.S.

Magistrate Judge James Larson. His detention hearing is scheduled for Friday at 9:30 a.m. before U.S. Magistrate Judge Edward Chen.

Hickey could face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of $250,000.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Allison Danner. The prosecution is the result of an investigation by the FBI and the San Francisco Police Department.
