CHP officer arrested on child molestation charges

Authorities say a California Highway Patrol officer is being held on $1 million bail after he turned himself in over allegations of child molestation dating back more than a decade ago.

The Sacramento Bee reports (http://bit.ly/znXkkp ) that after an arrest warrant was issued for Justin Morejohn, the 31-year-old CHP officer turned himself in Thursday.

Davis police Lt. Paul Doroshov told the newspaper that the arrest comes after police investigated incidents that allegedly took place between 1991 and 2001.

Morejohn was arrested on suspicion of ten counts of lewd and lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.

CHP Capt. Andy Menard says Morejohn has been placed on unpaid leave, and that Morejohn was not a CHP officer at the time of the alleged incidents.
