Child who fell out window expected to leave hospital soon

A 3-year-old San Francisco boy who was injured when he fell from a second-story window Tuesday evening is recovering at San Francisco General Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said Wednesday.

"He will be released soon ... within days," spokeswoman Marti Paschal said.

The boy fell from the living room window of a home in the 800 block of Meade Avenue in the city's Bayview District just before 7 p.m.

Police said the boy had apparently pressed against a window screen and the screen gave way, sending him falling down onto a car below.

The boy's mother had been in the kitchen at the time, police said.

Police believe the fall was an accident and are not pursuing a criminal investigation.
