Child among victims of armed robbery

Three people — including a 7-year-old child — were robbed Sunday night in the Tenderloin by suspects packing serious weaponry.

Up to $300 was stolen from what appears to be a family walking down Turk Street between Market and Taylor streets at 9:30 p.m., according to San Francisco police.

One suspect was armed with an AK-47, a Kalashnikov rifle that is one of the first assault rifles designed and is still widely used, and one of his accomplices had a semiautomatic handgun, according to police.

Witnesses say suspects then saw police officers and jumped into a white, 4-door sedan driven by a third accomplice, escaping onto southbound Interstate 280, police said.

The suspects were described as three black males between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall, police said.
