Charlie Crist’s hand-picked party chairman arrested in Fla. 

Jim Greer, who was installed by Florida Gov. Charlie Crist as head of the state GOP, has been taken into custody at the Seminole County Jail this morning. Greer and his top aide, Delmar Johnson, had been accused of awarding themselves contracts and taking hundreds of thousands of dollars in party money.

Crist, who had promised not to leave the Republican Party, chose to do so last month. He is running for Senate against Republican Marco Rubio. Democrats are expected to nominate Rep. Kendrick Meek in the race later this summer.
