Case against SF man in shooting death of neighbor discharged

The case against San Francisco resident Amisi Sudi Kachepa, 68, for allegedly fatally shooting a neighbor Saturday morning has been dropped pending investigation, according to Alex Bastian of the San Francisco District Attorney's Office.

Stephen Guillermo, 26, was found suffering from a fatal gunshot wound about 1:40 p.m. inside an apartment in the 900 block of Mission Street in the South of Market neighborhood.

Kachepa, who was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, is now set to be released from jail, Bastian said.

Sources close to the investigation indicated that the body of Guillermo was found in Kachepa's home. Evidence seems to indicate that the incident happened inside of the home.

California penal code 198.5 says that any person in fear of death or bodily injury in their home who uses force is deemed to be defending themselves.
