Chang, Lick-Wilmerding notch triumph over Drew 

Traci Chang scored 12 points as the Lick-Wilmerding girls’ basketball team rolled past host Drew 33-19 in a Bay Counties League West game Tuesday.

Drew’s defense and rebounding, led by Claire Ishizaki and Chelsea Shoenberg caught theTigers by surprise. Lick-Wilmerding (15-7, 8-1 BCL) did not score until six minutes into the game and trailed 6-4 at the end of the first quarter.

However, Lick-Wilmerding quickly regrouped and went on a 15-6 scoring run in the second quarter. The Tigers’ defense took control from there, allowing only seven points in the second half.

Tigers coach Nathan Lundy-Gonzalez attributed the poor start to "too many turnovers."

Lick-Wilmerding is focusing on having more players shoot the ball.

"We’re really needing to step it up on offense," Lundy-Gonzalez said. "We’re trying to get some good shots set up."

Ishizaki contributed eight points and four steals for the Dragons (0-19, 0-9), while Schoenberg led all rebounders with eight.

International 38, San Domenico 12

Rachel Beck and Heidi Kyaw each scored 10 points as the host Jaguars (11-9, 7-1) turned back the Panthers (1-10, 1-7).

Lauren Lightbody and Kate Greenberg added six points apiece for International, which outscored San Domenico 21-2 over the second and third quarters.

Gateway 62, Pescadero 12

PESCADERO — Alyson Szeto made five 3-pointers and scored 20 of her 23 points in the first half as the Gators (18-1, 7-0) crushed the Vikings (2-12, 1-6).

Dominique Hunter added 18 points and 18 rebounds for Gateway, which led 59-7 after the third quarter.
