Chamber returns from DC encouraged

Local business leaders had been hobnobbing at the nation’s capital last week, hoping to drive the money trail back to San Francisco where the unemployment rate continues to rise.

The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce went to Washington, D.C., seeking federal dollars for “shovel-ready projects.”

The delegation was also there to strengthen political ties with policymakers, which never hurts in this economic climate.

Chamber members seemed to think the trip was money well spent.

“Throughout the week, we were encouraged by the reception we received by our peers and lawmakers,” Chamber President Steve Falk said.
