Chamber of Commerce honors six businesses

The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce recognized six businesses for excellence at its annual "Ebbies" Excellence in Business Awards event Wednesday. The businesses "represent the entrepreneurial spirit and visionary leadership that characterizes the San Francisco business community and gives San Francisco its competitive edge," the chamber said in making its awards.

The award categories and honorees:

Excellence in business: Accounting firm Deloitte & Touche USA LLP; emerging growth: lesbian-oriented travel firm Olivia; economic development: the Westfield San Francisco Centre; special directors’ award: City College of San Francisco; corporate philanthropy: Bank of America’s Charitable Foundation; community builder: Tenderloin Neighborhood Development Corporation’s Curran House.

"Our Ebbies’ winners and finalists are companies built by people who are passionate about what they do, who value San Francisco’s diversity, and who have the vision and are willing to take risks to create new products, new ways of doing business and entire new industries," said Steve Falk, chamber president and CEO.
