Chamber leader responds to Daly

“The Civil Sidewalks ordinance is about addressing bad behavior on public sidewalks – period,” San Francisco Chamber of Commerce President Steve Falk told the Examiner on Monday in response to comments made by Supervisor Chris Daly.

“If the Board of Supervisors is afraid this will become a wedge issue, they should promptly respond to the concerns of the Chamber, Chief [George] Gascón and the vast majority of merchants and residents across the city who are concerned about the safety and accessibility of our sidewalks by passing the legislation.  If the Board doesn’t act, the voters will.”

Daly accused Falk of only supporting the sit-lie proposal as a political strategy to try to beat progressive candidates in the upcoming Board of Supervisors elections.
