Cell phone radiation bill goes to supes

Mayor Gavin Newsom’s legislation that would require retailers to notify consumers of cell phone radiation levels will go before the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday.

It was supposed to be heard last week, but was postponed. San Francisco would become the first city in the world to require such labeling in stores, under Newsom’s legislation.

Business advocates are against the proposal since retailers are not experts on radiation levels and it’s not clear whether cell phone radiation poses health risks.
