Castro Station closed after power outage

The Castro Muni station is closed after a tree fell on a power line in Diamond Heights, cutting power to overhead lines Wednesday night.

The power outage occurred just before 8 p.m. at Douglas Street in Diamond Heights, PG&E spokesman J.D. Guidi said.

A tree reportedly hit the lines, but both the power lines and pole are still intact and no one was injured.

An estimated 960 customers are affected, Guidi said. Power is expected to be restored by 9:30 p.m.

The Castro station is closed because there is no power at the station, Muni spokeswoman Kristen Holland said.

There are shuttle buses running between Castro Station and Forest Hill for the K-Ingleside, L-Taraval and M-Ocean View, she said.

All subway trains are running, but at a slow pace because of the outage, Holland said, because trains are running in manual mode.
