Castro parklet could be Patrol Special namesake 

Much as an upstart pedestrian plaza at Castro and Market streets has become a permanent fixture, so too did Patrol Special Officer Jane Warner make an indelible mark on the Castro.

Now, Supervisor Bevan Dufty is calling for The City to name the little area after Warner, following her death in May.

But while the former president of the Patrol Special Police Association may be immortalized, the unique group of security officers she once represented may be headed toward more regulation after a study commissioned by The City called them a liability and burden on taxpayers.
