Car hits woman in SoMa

A woman was struck by a car this morning in SoMa and taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to police.

She was struck while she was jaywalking most likely in one of the alleys near Sixth and Mission streets around 7:50 a.m., said fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge.

Cameras at the Chronicle building at Fourth and Mission streets might have the crash on tape, Talmadge said. She also said there were witnesses.

The 14-Mission Muni bus had to be rerouted through the area. The intersection was briefly closed during the investigation.

Details about the driver were not immediately available, but the driver was not injured.
