Caltrain to vote on budget change next week

Caltrain could vote next week to increase its annual budget by $1.3 million for this fiscal year.

In July, the regional transit agency approved a budget for the 2010-11 fiscal year with a $2.5 million hole, a deficit that was intended to be reconciled with service cuts and fare increases.

With those measures set to go into effect on January 1, Caltrain is revising its budget accordingly. At its meeting on Thursday, Caltrain’s Board of Directors could approve an increase to the agency’s operating budget from $100.9 million to $102.2 million.
