Caltrain shows strong marks in ridership levels, on-time performance rates

Despite all the financial uncertainty surrounding the agency, Caltrain can at least take gratification in its strong performance in December, which featured improved levels of ridership and on-time performance rates.

Last month, Caltrain vehicles arrived on time for 95.8 percent of their runs. Not only was that rate a 2.4 percent improvement from the same time in 2009, it also outperformed the agency’s standard benchmark of 95 percent.

Making the timeliness all the more impressive is the fact the Caltrain also dealt with a surge in ridership in December. The number of customers last month increased by 6.9 percent compared to December 2009, continuing the agency’s recent trend of increasing passengers levels.
