CalTrain back on track

Caltrain service has been fully restored this afternoon after a garbage truck crashed into a train bridge near Monte Diablo Avenue in San Mateo, according to Caltrain.

The low-speed accident occurred at about 7:45 a.m. when an Allied Waste garbage truck driver tried to navigate the underpass but did not realize the truck exceeded the height restrictions, according to San Mateo police Lt. Mike Brunicardi.

The driver was not seriously injured, but was transported to an area hospital, Brunicardi said.

Inspectors made sure the bridge was safe for train travel and there are no delays at this time, according to a Caltrain representative.
