Call him Professor Giannoulias

Northwestern University has announced that former Illinois Democratic Senate candidate Alexi Giannoulias will be a visiting professor at the school's North Shore campus next fall, Crain’s Chicago Business reports.

Unfortunately, the course Giannoulias will be teaching won't be called "Counting With Alexi," about the creative accounting behind the collapse of his mob-connected, family-owned Broadway Bank, which federal regulators closed last year.

No, he’ll be exploring this question: "Is our system of electing political leaders antithetical to good governing?"

Like Giannoulias knows anything about "good government." Parents should demand tuition refunds if their kids wind up in this nutty professor’s class.

"Generally, Northwestern wants Ph.D's teaching classes. But, the Ph.D-less Giannoulias is ‘acceptable’ at Northwestern. Being a prominent banker for the Chicago Mob doesn't seem to bother Northwestern. No word yet on whether Michael ‘Jaws’ Giorango will become a guest lecturer in class," quips Chicago blogger Steve Bartin.

Besides academia, Giannoulias says he’s also considering several "offers" from the financial sector, which apparently doesn’t hold running a bank into the ground against him.
