California Street cable car out of service

The California Street cable car will be out of service Tuesday because of a broken cable, San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency spokesman Alan Siegel said.

Shuttle buses will run on California Street between Drumm Street and Van Ness Avenue in place of the California Street cable car, Muni line 61, until the damaged cable is repaired, Siegel said.

The cable line will be back in service Wednesday, Siegel said. Muni officials have not determined how the cable line was damaged, Siegel said.
