Cable car service restored

Cable car service on the Powell-Hyde and Powell-Mason lines was restored this morning after being disrupted for about five hours.

Workers detected problem with the motor that runs the cables when the cable car lines were scheduled to begin service at 5:35 a.m., according to Muni spokesman Judson True.

Full service on the lines was restored about 10 a.m., True said.

Muni ran bus shuttles along Powell Street between Market and Washington streets during the outage.
