Cab driver punched in face in Tenderloin for no apparent reason

A cab driver was punched in the face for no apparent reason in the Tenderloin on Monday, police said.

The 43-year-old victim was standing outside his cab in the 800 block of Larkin Street about 6:49 a.m. when a man, who appeared to be in his 30s, asked the cab driver if he had a problem, police said.

The victim said no, but the man punched him in the face several times, causing a deep laceration to the victim's chin and mouth, police said. He was hospitalized for his injuries, which were not life threatening.

No arrest has been made.
