Business leaders making census count

The San Francisco Chamber of Commerce today said it is challenging chambers across five California urban centers to generate the highest 2010 census participation rate.

The SF Chamber will post daily updates at on the percentage of residents in each city to complete and mail back the 2010 census form to the Census Bureau.

The competition will continue for five weeks, with the winner announced on April 28.

“A complete and accurate census count is not only vital to California communities, it saves taxpayer dollars,” said Steve Falk, President & CEO, San Francisco Chamber of Commerce.  “With every 1 percent of census participation by mail equating to $85 million in savings, now is the time for San Francisco residents to complete and return their census forms.”
