Business briefs: The UAW talk it out 

The United Auto Workers union agreed on a tentative four-year contract with Chrysler on Wednesday after a strike that sent thousands of workers to the picket lines for almost six hours. The UAW on Wednesday also announced that it ratified a four-year agreement with GM, reached Sept. 26 after a two-day strike. Ford will be the final automaker to bargain with the UAW.


Boeing Co. (BA) is delaying initial deliveries of the 787 Dreamliner by six months due to continued challenges in completing assembly of the first airplanes, the company said Wednesday. The 787, Boeing’s first all-new jet since airlines started flying the 777 in 1995, will be the world’s first large commercial airplane made mostly of light, durable carbon-fiber composites.
