Tribune Co.

The company said its revenue fell 5.9 percent last month on a continuing tailspin in classified advertising sales that resulted in an even steeper decline in its newspaper division. Tribune Co. (TRB), whose properties include the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times and 23 TV stations, said consolidated revenue for the period ended Aug. 5 slipped to $467 million from $496 million a yearago.

The former BP (BP) chief executive has made a return to the oil industry, taking up a senior position at one of the world’s largest private equity funds just three months after his scandal-tainted departure from BP. In a surprise announcement, Riverstone Holdings LLC said it had appointed Browne as head of its European operations.
