Business briefs: Chief architect of Sony Corp. will step down 

Ken Kutaragi, the 56-year-old chief architect of Sony Corp.’s flagship PlayStation game console and an icon among gamers, will step down as Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.’s chairman and group chief executive. Kutaragi’s most recent brainchild, the PlayStation 3 console, has suffered embarrassing production shortages and a $600 price tag that some Sony fans said was too steep.


Shares of the nation’s third-largest hamburger chain soared more than 12 percent after it announced it is forming a special board committee to consider options including a possible sale of the company. The company recently has moved to spin off and sell other chains and refocus on its core burger business. Wendy’s also has introduced a new line of deli sandwiches.
