Lung cancer claimed British singer Joe Cocker on Monday, his agent reported. He was 70.

Cocker died in Colorado, where he'd lived for two decades, according to The Associated Press. Cocker scored several hits in the 1970s and 1980s, including "You Are So Beautiful" and "Up Where We Belong," a duet with Jennifer Warnes. His hit "With a Little Help From My Friends," a Beatles cover, reached new generations as the theme song for TV's "The Wonder Years." Musicians and fans used Twitter to offer tributes to Cocker, who gained fame at Woodstock in 1969.

"Goodbye and God bless to Joe Cocker from one of his friends peace and love," tweeted Ringo Starr, who sang the Beatles' version of "With a Little Help From My Friends."

British rocker Peter Frampton tweeted, "So sad to hear of Joe Cocker's passing. 'You are so beautiful' is both Joe and Nicky Hopkins piano at their very best. Gonna play it now RIP."

KASEM LAID TO REST IN NORWAY

DJ and voice actor Casey Kasem's world tour, which he involuntarily embarked on after his death in June, is over. TMZ reported Monday that Kasem was buried last week at a small ceremony in a Norwegian graveyard.

Kasem's widow, Jean Kasem, had her husband's body transported from Washington to Montreal to Norway. Kasem's widow and his children have battled over his remains. His children claim Jean subjected Kasem, who voiced Shaggy on "Scooby-Doo," to neglect that contributed to his death at age 82. The Santa Monica Police Department is pursuing an elder-abuse claim against Jean Kasem and had ordered an autopsy of Kasem's body.

Kasem's children were not aware of his burial until Monday, TMZ says.
