Bright idea heading to committee

The idea of requiring commercial buildings in The City to increase the efficiency of fluorescent lighting by 2011 will be heard Monday by the Land Use and Economic Development Committee.

The idea, which was proposed by Supervisor Bevan Dufty, has the support of building owners.

The energy efficiency of commercial buildings is a goal of other legislation as well, including Mayor Gavin Newsom’s idea of requiring buildings to report how much energy they use annually.
