Breaking news: Recycled liberal conventional wisdom on the Tea Party

We interrupt all other news to bring you this shocking story in Today’s Washington Post:

Republicans have said all year that the tea party movement was going to lead them to victory in November, but in the final weeks of the campaign it is suddenly the Democrats who are claiming a tea party advantage.

Suddenly, Democrats are saying what they’ve been saying for months and months about the Tea Party.

David Plouffe, the former Obama campaign manager who is playing a key role as a party strategist this year, said there has been a shift in sentiment since Christine O’Donnell won the Republican Senate primary last month in Delaware.

Plouffe said that O’Donnell – who has drawn ridicule for her well-publicized views on sexual activity and for embellishing her resume – and other tea party favorites are having a “collateral impact” on Republican candidates across the country.

That’s why you’ve seen Democrats pulling ahead in so many Senate races: Pennsylvania, Missouri, Ohio, Florida, Colorado, Kentucky, Florida, New Hampshire, Washington State, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Nevada…What’s that?

They’re losing in all of those? Even in Washington?

They’re headed for a 50-seat loss in the House? Even John Dingell is in mortal peril? Oh.

Maybe it’s not such a big story after all.
