Brawls erupt over counterfeit tickets at San Francisco venue

Dust-ups between scalpers and “dissatisfied customers” erupted outside a popular San Francisco music venue Thursday, police said.

A few customers were upset with scalpers who sold them counterfeit tickets in front of The Independent near Hayes and Divisadero streets, police said.

One scalper was beaten by two men. Another scalper drew a knife on two other dissatisfied customers, police said.

The fights were reported around 8 p.m.

The music group Medeski Martin and Wood were on the bill at The Independent on Thursday.
