Boys pull out knife, gun during classroom argument

Authorities say three South Los Angeles middle school students were taken into custody after two of them pulled out a knife and gun during an argument in a 7th-grade class.

Partnership for Los Angeles Schools spokesman Patrick Sinclair tells the Los Angeles Times (http://lat.ms/zgLJDu ) that the Samuel Gompers Middle School students began arguing Wednesday afternoon when one of them pulled out a knife. The other boy then grabbed a backpack and took out a gun.

Sinclair says the other students saw what happened and immediately ran out the door. No one was hurt.

Sinclair says the boys were quickly apprehended by campus security, along with a third student who was not in the classroom but brought the backpack with the gun. All three were turned over to Los Angeles police.
