Blue Jackets send 2 players to Springfield in AHL 

The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned left wing Dane Byers and defenseman David Savard to the club's American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass.

Byers is scoreless with 24 penalty minutes and has an even plus/minus rating in five games with Columbus this season. Savard has five assists and 15 penalty minutes in 10 games with the Blue Jackets.

Byers was suspended three games without pay for a shoulder-to-head hit on San Jose's Andrew Desjardins on Jan. 14, forfeiting almost $9,000 in salary.

He has eight goals and 11 assists with 71 penalty minutes in 28 games with Springfield this season. Savard has two goals and nine assists in 23 games for the Falcons.
