Big rig crashes into funeral home, sparks fire in the Castro

Muni has placed a shuttle bus on the F-Market line as crews cleanup the scene of an earlier fire involving a big-rig in San Francisco's Castro District this morning.

Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire in the 2200 block of Market Street shortly after 12:35 a.m., according to a fire dispatcher.

The blaze was under control around 1:50 a.m., the fire dispatcher said.

Muni has placed a shuttle bus on the F-Market line north of the crash bridging commuters on Market Street from Church to 11th streets, Muni spokesman Paul Rose said.

The truck crashed into the front of Sullivan's Funeral Home and Cremation Services located on Market Street between Sanchez and Noe streets.

Cleanup crews are working to remove 150 gallons of diesel from the 18-wheeler before the truck can be removed from the scene, police said.

The driver and a passenger in the big-rig were transported to San Francisco General Hospital for minor injuries, according to police.
