Big names headline MontBleu offerings

South Lake Tahoe’s MontBleu Resort, Casino and Spa is offering an exciting entertainment lineup for January featuring a variety of musicians and entertainment acts.

The acts include Ozomatli on Saturday; the Winter Greens Tour with Rebelution on Jan. 16; Snoop Dogg on Jan. 19; George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic on Jan. 30; Bassnectar on Feb. 11 and 12; and Sound Tribe Sector 9 on Feb. 13.

Ozomatli kicks off 2011 with a high-energy collision of hip-hop, salsa and funk. In its 14 years as a band, the celebrated Los Angeles culture-mashers have gone from hometown heroes to being named U.S. State Department cultural ambassadors. Tickets start at $30.

California reggae band Rebelution has developed into the front-runner for grass-roots, independent and touring-driven music groups representing the state’s reggae scene. During each performance, the band instills its kickback, catchy refrain and optimistic, inspiring and engaging music. Tickets start at $18.

Snoop Dogg is headlining MontBleu’s theater Jan. 19. Known for his ultrasmooth, laid-back raps and melodic rhyming, Snoop is the ultimate entertainer. His success has spanned the past two decades in the music industry with multiple platinum albums, including hits such as “Gin and Juice,” “Drop It Like It’s Hot,” “Signs” and “Beautiful.”

George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic hit the stage in January with their blend of funk, R&B and rock rhythms. Clinton is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, inducted in 1997 with 15 other members of Parliament-Funkadelic.

Bassnectar electronic mix, combining mainstream music with underground dubs, is a multifaceted musical project that is as diverse as it is heavy, as raw as it is meticulous, and as fierce as it is imaginary. Sound Tribe Sector 9 is bringing instrumental electronic rock to South Lake Tahoe. In addition to running its own record label, 1320 Records, STS9 uses its voice as a platform for change and to raise money for activism efforts, including $150,000 last year for the Make it Right Foundation.

Comedic icons Kevin Nealon and Rob Schneider are bringing their unique personalities to MontBleu’s theater Feb. 26 and March 26, respectively.

Tickets start at reasonable prices for people of all ages. Check out MontBleu’s website for more pricing information and details on the entertainment acts.
