Big drug bust made at San Bruno house

What started as a simple roof fire turned into a drug bust and bomb alert after San Mateo County law enforcement agencies found almost 1,300 marijuana plants in a San Bruno house.

Just after 8 p.m. on Saturday, the San Bruno Fire Department was called out to the 3100 block of Fleetwood Drive on a call of a roof fire. After extinguishing the flames, officers searching the residence found marijuana and called the San Bruno Police Department.

A Fleetwood Drive resident who did not want to be identified said there was no indication anything suspicious was going on at the home.

Officers also found weapons including an AK-47 assault rifle and an unspecified amount of money, Special Agent Supervisor Leo Capovilla from the county’s narcotics task force said. Information found at the house directed officers to a house on Green Avenue, where 23-year-old Aaron George Seits was arrested. During the arrest, a pipe bomb was found, and after evacuating nearby neighbors, the sheriff’s bomb squad destroyed the device.

No one was injured in the explosion.

More weapons, stolen property and a police scanner were allegedly found at Seits’ home.

Seits was booked into San Mateo County Jail on charges including possession for sale and cultivation of a controlled substance, possession of an assault weapon, possession of an explosive device, transportation of high capacity ammunition magazines into California, altering or removing of serial numbers from a weapon and possession of stolen property. His bail was set at $175,000.
