Because what would we do without a hearty slam on earmarks?

Who: U.S. Congress

What: Sought almost 40,000 earmarks worth more than $100 billion for the fiscal year, according to Taxpayers Against Earmarks, Taxpayers for Common Sense, and WashingtonWatch.com.

Why it's an outrage: Developing soybeans resistant to a problematic pest, university engineering projects, and subsidies for a local Boys and Girls Club in Sacramento, Calif., aren't our top priorities in a recession, yet Congress is wasting our time putting in for funding.

Where to vent: Call the House Committee on Appropriations at 202-225-2771 and the Senate Committee on Appropriations at 202-224-7363.
