The zany Zazzle Bay to Breakers race in San Francisco is just months away from the 101st running of the event, but time is already ticking to sign up to participate.

Registration for this year’s 12K race, which is occurring May 20, opened Thursday. Last year 55,000 runners registered to take part in the race.

The first Bay to Breakers race was held on Jan. 1, 1912, and called the Cross City race.
