Bay Area stock market update: VMWare up, Xilinx down 

The Dow is down more than 130 points in early afternoon trading Eastern Standard Time. Locally, Xilinx Inc. (XLNX) of San Jose saw its price drop 4.1 percent to $25.71 a share. Medical distribution firm McKesson Corp. (MCK) of San Francisco was trading at $60.89, a 1.72 percent increase, gains followed by VMware Inc. (VMW) of Palo Alto, whose share price increased 2.06 percent to $103.20.

Cisco Systems Inc. (CSCO) of San Jose was trading at a volume of 25.66 million shares.

In the news, business software maker Oracle Corp. (ORCL) CEO, Larry Ellison, sold 1 million shares of common stock under a prearranged trading plan, according to a Securities and Exchange Commission filing Thursday and reported by the Associated Press. Redwood City-based Oracle’s shares were up slightly, at .95 percent.
