Baseball announces postseason schedule

The 2013 Major League Baseball season will not extend into November — but it's close.

Major League Baseball announced the playoff schedule for this year, and if there is a Game 7 of the World Series, it will be played Oct. 31. Of course, if there is a postponement for inclement weather, the World Series could get into November.

The last day of the regular season is Sept. 29, and the next day will be reserved for any tiebreaking games that may be necessary.

The one-game playoff between the two National League wild-card teams will be played Tuesday, Oct. 1, with the American League wild-card game scheduled for the next day. Both National League Division Series will begin Oct. 3, and both American League Division Series will get started Oct. 4. Game 1 of the NL Championship Series is set for Oct. 11 and Game 1 in the ALCS is scheduled for Oct. 12.

The World Series will begin Oct. 23 at the home ballpark of the American League champ.
