BART to review environmental justice policies Thursday

BART’s new environmental justice policy will focus on engaging in full participation with minority and low-income communities on agency matters, ensuring that transportation policies are equitable, and mitigating any possible adverse effects to protected populations.

Since losing $70 million in federal money due to its poor outreach work, BART has been on an extended campaign to better connect with minority and low-income communities.

On Thursday, BART’s Board of Directors will review the agency’s environmental justice policy, a manifest designed to address the needs of communities overlooked in the past.
