BART service halted temporarily by body on tracks

Most Bay Area Rapid Transit service was restored by 6 p.m. Tuesdayafter reports of a person under a train, which closed the Richmond station.

The incident was reported around 4:10 p.m. and the AC Transit No. 72 train was offering service between the Richmond and El Cerrito del Norte stations, according to BART spokesman Linton Johnson.

By about 6 p.m., trains from San Francisco, Daly City and the peninsula were single-tracking to Richmond station, said BART spokesman Jim Allison. But trains from Fremont were only going as far as El Cerrito del Norte and there was still no service between the Richmond and El Cerrito del Norte stations.

The circumstances of the incident were still being investigated and there were delays of up to 15 minutes systemwide.
