BART fires officer involved in Grant killing

The Bay Area Rapid Transit agency has fired an officer involved in the fatal shooting of an unarmed man last year.

Attorney Alison Berry Wilkinson said Thursday her client, Marysol Domenici, was fired Wednesday. Wilkinson said Dominici has already filed an appeal to return to her job of nearly six years.

Domenici was one of the initial BART police officers to respond moments before Oscar Grant was fatally shot by officer Johannes Mehserle on a train station platform last New Year's Day in Oakland.

Domenici testified in court that Grant and his friends swore at her and didn't obey her orders to sit down moments before the shooting. Domenici said she became fearful from taunts by Grant, his friends and passengers on the train.

Mehserle has pleaded not guilty to murdering Grant. He's scheduled to appear in court for a pretrial hearing Friday in Los Angeles.
