BART back on schedule after medical delay

A BART passenger who fell ill earlier this morning temporarily halted service at Lake Merritt Station, leading to delays throughout the system.

The incident was first reported at 8:31 a.m., and trains were forced to come to a halt in the East Bay, leading to a backup that forced major delays on all lines, according to BART officials.

The medical emergency was taken care of by 9:07 a.m., and trains were back on time by 9:40 a.m., according to spokesman Linton Johnson.

Bay City News contributed to this report.
