Bank robbed at gunpoint in Richmond district

Richmond Station police say the suspect is wanted for other bank robberies in The City and elsewhere.

A man robbed a Richmond district bank in broad daylight Thursday, pointing a handgun at tellers and then walking away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The man entered the bank on Balboa Street and 37th Avenue and demanded money from a female teller at 1 p.m., Officer Albie Esparza said. The only bank on the 3600 block of Balboa Street is the East West Bank.

He fled on foot in an unknown direction.

Police have reviewed surveillance footage of the incident and describe the suspect as a 40- to 45-years-old black man of medium build wearing black glasses and a multicolored sweatshirt. He is about 6 foot 2 inches tall.
