Awkward bank robber loses mustache during holdup

An armed bank robber hoping to pull off his heist incognito managed to draw even more attention to himself when the phony mustache he was wearing started falling off mid-robbery.

According to police, the robber walked into a Bank of America on El Camino Real in Burlingame Wednesday afternoon donning a wig and a mustache that just wasn't sticking.

The man reportedly passed a "threatening" note to a clerk demanding cash, and lifted his shirt showing the butt of a gun. Oddly enough, after all that work, the robber ran off before he got the money.

Perhaps this is why.

The Contra Costa Times reports that police reviewed surveillance of the robbery, and saw that the man's lip hair was catawampus -- which we presume is a real bank robbery faux pas.

The robber was a 6-foot white man in 50s who was described as skinny. He wore a green stocking cap, glasses, a plaid shirt (and half a mustache). He was last seen running east on Chapin Avenue.

If anyone has seen this man or his mustache, please call Burlingame police at (650) 777-410.
