Audit called for commissioners’ perks

Budget Analyst Harvey Rose is expected to audit what city commissioners receive in compensation.

Supervisor John Avalos introduced a motion Tuesday that will come before the full board next week. If approved, it would direct Rose to audit “the direct compensation and other benefits which are received by the members of the commissions of the City and County of San Francisco.”

The commissions include bodies that oversee everything from port land to San Francisco International Airport.

“There are a number of compensations that commissioners do receive, they include travel, some health benefits. But there are other ones that we don’t always know about,” Avalos said Tuesday during the meeting. “So I would like to direct the budget analyst to do some assessment about what other forms compensation that commissioners receive in the City and County of San Francisco.”

Perhaps tickets to football games, for one.
