Art & Entertainment: Places to go, people to see 

Art of the Americas: "Living Traditions" features Native American pieces, newly commissioned Northwest Coast art and important collections of California, Southwest and Mesoamerican art. The show is on view at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University.

Admission is free. Hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays and until 8 p.m. Thursdays.

BEN ARONSON

"Explorations," an exhibit of oil paintings by nationally recognized artist Ben Aronson, opens with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Aronson’s cityscapes include scenes of San Francisco. The show is at Jenkins Johnson Gallery, 464 Sutter St., San Francisco. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays. Admission is free.
