Arrests made in fatal stabbing near graveyard

Two teens are in custody after a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death next to a cemetery in Redwood City over the weekend, authorities said.

Redwood City police found the victim, a resident of unincorporated Redwood City, suffering from stab wounds on the 500 block of Geneva Avenue next to Union Cemetery at 3:47 a.m. on Saturday, authorities said.

The man, whose identity had not been released as of yesterday afternoon pending notification of his family, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Police have arrested two youths, who they are not identifying by name. One is a resident of unincorporated Redwood City and the other is from Redwood City.

A “physical altercation between several subjects” is thought to have broken out just before the stabbing, said Sgt. Sean Hart.

No further information was available.

In June, three men were killed in the unincorporated neighborhood of North Fair Oaks about 1½ miles from Saturday’s crime scene. The men were shot to death in the driveway and garage of a home on 512 Stanford Ave. No arrests have been made in that killing.
