Arrests made in case of man shot in head in San Mateo County

Arrests have been made in the case of a 24-year-old man who was shot in the head early Wednesday morning in unincorporated San Mateo County, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Sheriff’s deputies received a call about 2:30 a.m. from a resident in the 300 block of San Carlos Avenue who said a bleeding man was pounding on his front door. Deputies found the man with a gunshot wound to his head, but he is expected to survive.

About 45 minutes later, deputies stopped a vehicle containing three people, two of which were believed to be suspects in the shooting, the Sheriff’s Office said.

The victim and suspects know each other, deputies said, and a motive of the shooting is being determined.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the suspects as Okalani Latu, 24, and Alejandro Arguello, 24, both of Redwood City. They are charged with attempted murder.
