Arrest made in East Palo Alto shooting that killed 3-month-old boy

An arrest has been made in the horrific triple shooting that killed a 3-month-old boy Sunday, East Palo Alto police said Monday.

More information on the arrest will be provided at a noon press conference, police said.

Cops are hunting two heartless thugs who fired multiple shots into a car containing a Redwood City family that had been leaving a baby shower just before 1 a.m.

The 22-year-old mother desperately shielded her two sons from shots fired, but her 3-month-old infant was caught in the crossfire and died of a bullet to the head.

The shooting occurred in the 400 block of Wisteria Drive, acting police Capt. Jeff Liu said. The suspects are believed to have approached the driver’s side of the vehicle on foot.

The mother, whose name was not released, suffered a gunshot wound to the buttock. Police said her husband, also 22, was shot in the shoulder. Their other son, a 3-year-old, was unharmed and is now in the care of relatives.

Police believe the adults were targeted by the shooters. “We don’t think this is a case of mistaken identity,” East Palo Alto Police Chief Ron Davis said.
